Home in Bufumbira is sombre yet not tear jerking. When he talks about Maasai land, he talks about the people mostly. His description of the night out in Mwingi dancing to ndombolo was hilarious.


An enjoyable short story. Discovering Home is 13 months of a trip back home laid down in an enjoyable 4-chapter short story. Refresh and try again. The description of scenery however was excessive and did not contribute much to the story.

Or rated it liked it Oct 28, The geography in this story is more vivid than the characters in it, but then again, wasn’t that the point viscovering the story? I wainwina reading about some familiar places.

His writing is natural and descriptive. He talks about the events in Rwanda, the people who have been through it, their sacrifices, gently putting them on a pedestal without telling it on the mountains despite the fact they are in the mountains.

Protection, Patronage or Plunder? It’s a lovely piece.
